GET IN THE HOLE

CONNECTING GOLFERS, GROWING THE GAME

Get in the Hole was a passion project born from my love for the sport and a desire to bring a fresh, digital-first perspective to the golfing community. While golf has seen a resurgence in recent years, many digital solutions still feel fragmented or outdated, especially for the modern, socially connected player.

With Get in the Hole, the goal was simple: create a platform that connects golfers across the globe, allowing them to share, compete, and engage in the sport they love, while modernising the experience for a new generation of players.

- INTRODUCTION
DEFINING THE PROBLEM

The first step in the journey was defining a clear problem statement:

“How might we connect socially-driven golfers in a way that enhances the experience of playing, preparing, and talking about the game - both on and off the course?”

From there, I began to conceptualise the product, identifying the key opportunities and pain points we could solve for:

  • Fragmented planning and communication tools when organising rounds or competitions.
  • A lack of dedicated social space for golfers to share content and connect with like-minded players.
  • Limited access to global golfing communities for players looking to expand their network or travel with purpose.

The vision became clear: a connected, intuitive app experience that felt more like a lifestyle platform than a utility, allowing golfers to plan games, chat with friends, share content, track progress, and grow their community all in one place.

- CONCEPTUALISING
CREATING THE BRAND IDENTITY

With the concept in place, I moved on to creating a brand identity that would reflect the energy, accessibility, and modern tone of the app.

The name, Get in the Hole, captured the spirit and humour of the game, while the brand visuals were built to feel clean, sporty, and digital-native, resonating with a younger, tech-savvy audience without alienating more seasoned players.

Key considerations included:

  • Logo & visual system designed to scale across digital platforms and in-app environments.
  • Colour palette and typography chosen for clarity, energy, and ease of use.
  • Tone of voice that was approachable, confident, and rooted in a shared love of the game.
- DISCOVERY & DESIGN
IDEATING THE APP EXPERIENCE

I then turned my attention to the experience design, sketching out how the platform could work in real-world golfing scenarios. This included early-stage wireframes, user flows, and feature mapping, focused around key pillars:

  • Social Feed & Content Sharing – A space for golfers to post their latest round, swing tips, course photos, or banter with friends.
  • Group Chat & Round Planning – Tools to easily organise games with friends, track availability, and confirm tee times.
  • Competitions & Challenges – Functionality for setting up friendly competitions or structured tournaments, complete with leader boards and scoring.
  • Player Discovery – A way to connect with golfers nearby or around the world, building networks and growing the global golfing community.

Every element was designed with the modern golfer in mind—effortless, engaging, and built around connection.

- CONCLUSION
CREATING THE BRAND IDENTITY

More than anything, Get in the Hole was about giving back to a sport I love by building a tool that could help grow and evolve the game. From shaping the original idea to defining the brand and experience, this project brought together my passion for design, technology, and community-building in a way that felt personal and purpose-driven.

It’s a concept I still believe in deeply, and one that I hope can one day tee off into something truly special.
